best way to look at it is that he's obviously grown up/mature enough to tell you what has been happening straight away. sadly in the real world 'talking to a bully' about his feelings wont really make things better. if he's confident enough to stand upto the bully, doesnt have to be in a violent way, then chances are it should die out. also a couple of months boxing should see him sorted hope you get it all sorted out

you should be able to feel the shaft move up/down or side to side but only a tiny ammount dont worry about small ammounts of oil and the comp housing can be grubby with the turbo still being fine if the bearings are gone/going you will be able to hear the play in the turbine shaft. also see how it spins by hand, you want some resistance when you turn it if its been rubbing you should see a clean surface where its rubbed. if it is rubbing do not use the car, if a bearing gets bad enough the compressor imp. will end up shattering and getting pulled through the engine a compression test wont really tell you anything. if you want to get it checked do a cylinder leakdown test. and if you need a turbo give marine turbo engineering a try

theres a guy on ebay in germany who does good quality ones at decent prices, dont know the seller name but last time i looked he had loads of stuff listed and wasnt too hard to find
