deny essex
Have seen the odd mention of useing fishing whips for magnets on here. Just thought i would let you home magnet makers know i bought some 3 metre fishing whips at £3 each new from a local boot sale some time back, finaly got round to making them into light weight arms for a magnet for useing hypa flaps. I removed the top section as this is a little too whippy , then bound around the joint of each outer section with a little fishing thread to reinforce it about 10 mm and applied a little epoxy glue over the binding. epoy glued 2 bent sections of 6 mm ally rod approx 50mm x 50mm into the top for the hypa flap mounts , glued in a suitable reciever in the base of the arm to go onto the motor, sprayed with a green and brown paint and a matt vanish, telescopic light weight arms ! job done. realy light weight and works real well with the hypa flaps and although not tried confident it would with any other plastic mag decoys. may be brave enough to try real birds on it one day One thing i have to bear in mind when shooting with it i dont think it would be very receptive to getting shot as has happened with the steel arms at times !!!
