southernlad
You won't go far wrong with either, both good guns. I think I'm right in saying that they're both built on the same action, a very reliable tried and trusted design. It's really down to which one feels right to you. cheers SL
Yellow Bear
can someone please give me a bit of advice on which one of these guns to get this will be my first one 686e sporting or the 686 white onyx sporting please help When I was buying it also came down to the same choice - played for half an hour with dry mounts etc, in the end it came down to the Onyx as it "felt right". The RFD, who was excelent and spent the time with me, then put them on the bench as he could not sense a difference. Cast, Heel depth, Pull, etc varied by no more than a mm or two, however, the balance point on the onyx was 10mm further foward (towards the barrel) than the other - that was all. With you it may be different - IF they both fit, go for the one that feels right. D Edited October 16, 2008 by Yellow Bear
