seisobs
Had a couple of free hours today, armed with a letter modified to my profile from the permission letter template, permission approval slip with an SAE attached on this subject heading I went out this afternoon to 3 farms that I had my eye on as there are quite a few crows around them. Luckily enough the first farm I went to the farmer was in the yard, I explained what I did and even before I got half way through my well rehearsed speel he said you are quite welcome to come here any time you like and shoot as many as you can,I have hundreds of starlings I need rid of too. Farm #2 was next, no farmer around so I went to the farmhouse, introduced myself to a very nice lady and passed over my letter, she said the crows were a real annoyance and there was no one controlling them, so hopefully I should get something in the post in a day or so. Farm #3 was exactly the same so here's hoping. I will update this post as things progress.

DaveK
Starlings were removed from the general license last year. No shootee the starlings (Certainly not in England anyway. Is it different in Scotland?)
seisobs
Update Sunday: Called again at farm #2, farmer said he was a tenant and gave me the phone number of the landowner. Spoke to a very nice chap he said he had 3 people controlling vermin and didn't want another, he did thank me for asking rather than just go on his land and start shooting!!!! AS IF! Anyway, knockback but a polite knockback.
seisobs
Regarding the comment on Starlings, this is the exact wording from the Scottish licence: If, under this licence, any action is taken against the Lesser Black-backed Gull, Herring Gull, Starling or House sparrow you must submit a return to the Scottish Government detailing the number of such birds, or their eggs, killed, taken or destroyed in each month. The reasons why such action was taken in each month, the method of control used and the location of any such actions must also be detailed. This report should be submitted to the address given in the licence by 31st January 2009. So we can shoot them up here in the frozen north but must tell the Scottish office how many>
