Hello forum members!

I just found this forum and am really pleased to have come across it. From a quick scan of the threads I can tell there's a lot to be learned here.

I'm living in Venezuela and have for the first time in my life had the opportunity to hunt pigeons.....Bare-eyed pigeons to be exact. And one thing that I quickly learned is that pigeons are much tougher to bag than the 'traditional' doves.

Anyway, I look forward to learning from other forum members and hopefully contributing as well.

Thanks WF!

Until I found this site, I never realized that pigeons were such a popular gamebird in the UK. I hunted about every gamebird possible in the Southern US but the only pigeons we ever encountered were the common Rock Pigeon.....and most of them were semi-domesticated.

S. America has a wide variety of beautiful pigeons and I hope to make some hunts for some of the birds not found here in Venezuela. I was surprised to learn, after I did a bit of research, that the Bare-eyed Pigeon occurs here in only a couple of coastal locations and the islands of the Netherlands Antilles.

Welcome matey, can you apply the same techniques over there?

As for the issue of techniques, I'm still low on the learning curve. What I have figured out is that these birds decoy well as I've used dead birds with good success. I've not yet used any artificial decoys but will have some on hand shortly.
