New Gun

got my mossberg 500 2 weeks ago yesterday, the new stock and forend arrived for it a week ago, and since i fitted them its hardly left my side. while i admi tthat some of this is shiny kit syndrome (because the mossberg is my new toy and i cant put it down...) i always do this with a new gun or if ive made a major change to one (new stock, etc), especially shotguns.

im just wondering if anyone else does this? :hmm:

my thinking has always been that shotgun shooting is mostly reflex and instinct, so the more natural the gun feels to me the better. also, the fact that its mostly rough shooting i do, its a major help when crossing rough ground, fences, gates, etc, if the gun doesnt feel awkward and clunky to me.

so for the last week every night when ive got home from work ive lifted the mossy out of the gun cabinet and slung it over my shoulder and gone about my usual routine (if any of the neighbours saw me theyd probly think id cracked and call the cops). but tonight i notcied a major difference when i lifted the gun, i dont have to think about where my hand went, how it balanced, etc. even when i quickly pulled it up to my shoulder my eye came into line right away, havnt even fired the gun with the new stock on it :good:

so what do you think? am i nuts, and the only person who does this? or do you do it too? or even if you dont do it, do you think its a good idea? :hmm:

ps should point out the girlfriend works til 11 every night, so im in the house on my own for 5 hours when i get home , otherwise i mightnt do it as much...
