dogfox
i visited my RFD today and looked at a nice cz 452 wood stock for €465 (a bit steep), im nearly 17, so we were talking and he said to have a talk with my FAO and just ask him what my chances of getting it were if i applied, so the conversation progressed and i told him that my gun club secretary can write me a letter saying that im sensible and safety concious to aid my application, i have also done a firearms safety course which i have the certificate from, i am also fully insured, after him hearing this and the fact that i already hold a SGC he said that i would almost definatly get it, but to talk to the FAO first anyway. so i have an appointment with him at 2pm on friday coming so sort it out, if that goes well im off to my RFD to put a deposit on it then get the application sorted that night and post it off. i hope i get it as im eager to get my own rifle instead of using freinds ones when im out with them, + its also easier for the bunnies that seem to be EVERYWHERE lately. so what do you guys think? this is the rifle btw

libs
Im sure if you have had SGC and they havn't heard of any complaints againts you it will be fine! I had only been shooting Rifles 7 months and Shotguns 2 months when i got my co-terminious. and it sounds like you have much more experience than me! libs
I'm sure you know but you cannot actually pay for/buy/purchase a rifle until your 17. If you know of a FAC holder who will buy it for you then transfere it to your ticket as a gift then your OK. just want to say as this caught me out! dogfox
im sure youll be just fine with it, you seem like a nice guy so i presume theyd have no bother with you having a .22 at all, its a bit more complicated with the licences over here, there isnt even a photo i.d on them, and when you are changing a gun you have to reapply by sending a variation in, and cannot collect until that variation is passed, which usually takes a few weeks!, you then get a new certificate!
