LeeinVA
So i would have to guess you might be at one million candle light? I love my .22-250 and would not trade it for anything.. The thing about high magnification is the target is very obscured if the shot is close up.. That is honestly why i use a 6 X 24 X 50.. So i can spank a whistle pig at 25 yards and still have the magnification for the pigs at 300 Like i said that is just my opinion..
chrispti
i'm pretty sure the Original scope is matt black finish - i lent it to a friend and must get it back! That Hawke SR12 8-24x56 is the same as the one i have, nice scope don't get me wrong, but it's over powered for air-rifle use and because of that, i find it's not so good on the light gathering side and prefer my Walther. It'll be going on my .17hmr when i get it as i think that kind of magnification is much better suited to FAC rifles. I find the high power helps with accurate range finding, ok the range numbers on the scope are inaccurate, I just tippexed some new ones on. The reticule is designed for a 11.5ftlb airgun using a 16grn pellet and the aim points are dead on, all the way up to the 60yrd mark. Using Hawkes BRC you can see what zero range will suit your HMR best and it will also let you see what distance the other aim points are at. Good luck with it. I think its ok at 12x mag, the top cross is set for 20yrds, I dont think you need to get any closer. Just my opinion though, each to their own. no offence intended Edited January 14, 2009 by chrispti
