I am new to using decoys I ideally want to lure in Crows, Magpies, Pigeons what layout should I be looking for I have been told Crows will go mad when they see an Owl and swoop in, all so I have been told to shoot a Rabit and leave it in the field belly up so Magpies and Crows will come in to feed I will be in a hide approx 35 yrds away from them shooting a 12flb .22 Air rifle.

Any help will be much appreciated :good::lol:

At 35 yards you are going to need the best cammo/hide that money can buy if you are looking for either a magpie or crow-at that range both can count the hairs on the back of your hand!Ive tried an owl decoy with some success but only with a shotgun-if you do get a couple then bring the decoys in and put the real ones out asap-my best bags on both these corvids has been under the trees as they come in to roost-as the light fades their eyes seem to loose their advantage.

I find where I shoot even with sg its hard enough to bring them within range. My mate who uses non fac air gave up when he saw that they just gave a fly past then off. Then again it is sheep farms i shoot so may not get the large numbers the crop farms do. I usually put an owl decoy out and have tried a dead bunny. What does seem to make a difference is the crows being in the right mood and them not seeing me go into cover.I drool over the photos with the big bags of crows, maybe one day. Good luck.
