old rooster
Mmmmm electronics. The fun. The horror. This sort of ****e almost put paid to my three year holiday (Uni ;-), but I mastered it in the end. The trick is not to let it know you're afraid! So you know how simple the circuit is using the good old 555 then
old rooster
Just got the PWM kit to speed control the whirlin thingy, guess what it uses to determine the pulse width , A 556 timer, two 555's in a dual inline package. 555 rules OK !! Going to modify the kit by machining 2mm off the top of the heatsink, 2mm off the posts in the potting box so I can drop the pcb in a couple of mm and make up a closing plate to protect it from rain and mud. Also reposition the adjusting potentiomer off the board and into the outside of the box so it can be better protected. I'll add an on/off switch to the box and run the controller direct from the battery, the controller will be positioned on the battery that way I won't get clipped round the head while trying to adjust the speed or turn it on and off !!. Post a couple of pics when it's all up and running
