Tommo
After months of kicking myself for allowing my Deben Blue-eye to get lost, l've bought a Lightforce 170 Lance. Mainly on the recommendation l got from here. My god they are light!! Seems really powerful had to take it outside and plug it in the Landy to test it up the street! Very impressed, although l'm going to get a red filter & a clear cover to protect it. Should l be thinking of inline fusing? (l know some do with 10amps etc) also what about the bulb? - its 50w at the min (l know you can get 100's) so if anyone has changed to a 100w bulb - let me know what you think in terms of heat etc / damage done? Oh a Fle*bay buy from a Outdoor shop at £55 + 3 P&P - thought that wasn't too bad?! T
Baldrick
I have three 100w 170s running, none with fuses. One is permanently wired into a Land Rover. The other two are on a splitter for the standard cigar lighter plug. One is red filtered for rabbits, one is unfiltered. If you are going after foxes, don't bother with a red filter. I have replaced all the wiring with heavy-duty cabling, and whilst I always wonder about fuses, I've not yet blown or melted anything. JohnGalway is the Lightforce maintenance/upgrade maestro on here.
scout
Sorry can't help with the bulb info, but that is a really good price , had a look on shebay and couldn't find them for that price, don't suppose you've got the shops web site address as I'm really keen on getting one. thanks
Tommo
Cheers baldrick, Re-wire hey i did take the inner peice out of the handle and look at the wiring and did think - wonder how long that'll last?! I'll wait till it does something it shouldnt before l attempt a rewire - then l'll deffo do as advised. I though at the price l have bought that - if it lasts i'll get another (scope mountable one maybe  ) that'll be specifically for bunnies (i.e. red filter and 100w bulb) - didn't get a filter with it so was wondering how easy it was to add a filter to the bell housing- then take it off whilst in the field - coz if its a pain in the **** then l'll not bother buying one till l get the second (good job the missus doesnt have access to my paypal account!!)
