good place to put the post as plenty foxing lads in here, personally i would get a .243 rifle with a decent fixed power scope schmidt and bender if money can stretch that far and decent moderator overbarrel type in my opinion, also a harris bipod... and decent sling fitted as they are not the lightest bits of kit

regarding brand of rifle this is entirely down to you, i use a CZ but my mate uses one of the new tikka rifles and to be honest they both do the same job, its what you like the feel of. and how much money you want to part with. you will probably end up spending more on the scope than the rifle which i quite normal.

this rifle is an ideal peice of kit which can also be used for deer. if granted on your permission.

Amount of Land required for FAC to be granted, never really had this problem but i would presume the police will look into the area of land that you have permission on and what is within the vacinity ie public places etc. then they will make the decission on wether or not to grant your licience.

Hope this helps a little

The police will look at the land to see if there are any public footpaths, houses etc nearby. You may also find that before you cab use a centrefire rifle on your own, you may have to be supervised by someone who has has one for a while. I supervised my mate who had a 17HMR and wanted a 22-250. After about 7 months he was allowed to use the rifle un supervised.

You may also find that you will not be allowed a 243, but can have a 222,223 or 22-250. It depends on your police force in your area.

PS. Welcome to PW
