ernyha
dognuts is right in that, they like to get to the front of the pack for the food. Pigeons don,t always do what they are "supposed to" though and for me thats what makes it such a great sport. Also if you use a rotor this often stops them coming into the pattern, depending how close you position it. Went out on some rape today and got 18 or so but only 2 actually "obeyed the rules", the others were shot flying over the pattern and the rotor.
supergame
I would agree about having plenty of birds at the front of the pattern. Its also worth trying the exact opposite though and having a gap at the front of the u. * * * * * * * * This pattern has worked for me on numerous occasions. It allows plenty of room for the birds to focus on when approaching. This pattern is probably at its best on a new sown field. A useful addition to this pattern is a floater in the gap as opposed to the magnet. This will prevent confusing the birds when they fly up the u. During winter months I will usually add a lot more bird to the front of the pattern and have double rows on the arms of the u. This tends to give the birds more confidence. I believe they go for safety in numbers at this time of year more so than in the summer.
markadams
How many deeks do you use in the pattern before you have started shooting any birds (to add to the pattern). Mark.
