clayman
Hard cased, M/C 3 chokes; adjustable shim stock; 2 +1 12g; 3yr warranty; £495 Made by Italian firm of Pietta who have been making high quality pistols and rifles and other guns particularly for the historical reproduction market. They introduced this range of Semi-shotguns about 10 yrs ago. http://www.pietta.org/ Pietta 'Challenge' Series Semi-automatic Shotguns Though Pietta are best known for their hand-finished percussion and peacemaker revolvers, the European gunmaker originally established its reputation by producing hunting shotguns which were of surprisingly high quality for the money. Pietta's entry into the Civil War replica revolver market in the 1970's and the resulting high demand for their well-made offerings led to an understandable shift in priorities and production of Pietta single, double, and over/under shotguns ceased in 1975. Following the completion of greatly expanded ultra-modern manufacturing facilities in 1995, Pietta was once again able to diversify its offerings without slowing production or compromising the quality which built their reputation. With Cav. Giuseppe Pietta - the company's founder - and his sons still at the helm, it was decided the time had come to return to their roots while the expertise of the original craftsmen who created their first shotguns was still available. Rather than remaking the guns of the past, however, Pietta decided to combine the latest in computer-assisted engineering and machining with the irreplacable finesse of old world hand finishing to create an entirely new and innovative line of modern semi-automatic shotguns. The result, aptly named the 'Challenge' series, is a testament to the marriage of modern manufacturing techniques and old world attention to detail that is the hallmark of the gunmaker's art. As will all Pietta firearms, every Mistral and Zephyrus semi-automatic shotgun is individually fitted, finished, assembled, and examined entirely by hand. All Mistral and Zephyrus shotguns feature aluminium alloy receivers, SAE4140 ultrasonic tested chrome-lined steel barrels with interchangeable chokes, and laser checkered European walnut stocks with fibreglass technopolymer-reinforced walnut forend. They can be used with either lead or steel shot.
