Hi chaps, normally a 12g user but now have a permission where my bsa could come in handy for rabbits.. I bought this rifle approximatley 6 years ago and has barley seen 500 shots through it. How good a gun actually is it ? I dont have a budget to upgrade so is it acceptable for rabbits and other vermin such as squirrels and rats ? I have a decent enough scope but may need to look at lamping equipment aswell... Any advice would be welcome ???

The lightning is a excellent gun in my experience, i've got to zero one in for my friend but he's getting a gasram for it, as for lamping a 50mm front lens will let enough light in, i use a lazerlite scope mounted on mine for shooting but if we are out with the lurchers as well i use the lightforce striker, any questions p.m. me and i'll give you a truthful answer

Its a great rifle as long as you work within it's limitations. I found my XL accurate to 30-35 yards, beyond that wasn't really good enough for hunting. So, stick to that sort of range and you won't go far wrong as long as you practise. As far as lethality was concerned it was the same as any other full power air rifle. It accounted for lots of grey squirrels which are the toughest of the airgun quarry. Mine was in .177.
