apbuild
Anyone here use CB radio. Is it still as good as it used to be? I had a cheap rig when I was about 15 yrs old. I'm looking at fitting a new rig into my 4x4 for the off-road events in Wales, The Peak District and maybe Iceland this year. Any advice appreciated. Cheers. Rob. Gareth0689
I had one about a year ago for a few weeks, I personally didnt like it you would be better doing the foundation amateur radio licence and getting a 2M radio for mobile, this is what i did and havent looked back. if you would like more info on this just e-mail me. apbuild
Spent a couple of hours fitting my new CB rig this morning and when done, I went up to Wittenham Clumps, a nature reserve at high level near me, to try it out. First I picked up two guys chatting from Camberley, that's 35 miles from me!!!! Some distance! Then, how I laughed, I managed to pick up the chatter of what I believe was Anti-hunt protesters trying to interfere with a local hunt. Their conversation went, in a funny military fashion: <Penny> 'I am sure there are horses and hounds in that field, over!' <Brian> 'Don't do anything whilst you are on your own Penny'. <Penny> 'Yes, I am right, they have hounds in the field, over'. <Brian> 'Sit tight Penny, we are just coming down the hill to your location'. <Penny> 'Oh Dam! They have just turned and gone away from me, over'. <Brian> 'Never mind Penny. We will soon catch up with them. Stand by'. Then they must have switched channels, because I didn't hear any more. I don't Know why but I had a picture of Brian and Penny in my mind afterwards. Looked like Tom and Barbara from The Good Life. :o Great fun. Rob.
