I have just got my new gun and have zeroed for 40 yards. I can get good groups at this distance but when i took it to shoot at feral pigeons at close range it is shooting low, i cant know why this is?:/

Are you shooting up into a tree?

From what I remember of a similar post that was a reason why things can go a little wide of the mark.

Hope this helps.

Could it be an issue with the ballistic arc of your pellets?

A rifle will have two zero points where the shot will be exactly in line with the crosshairs. On mine, i get one zero at 7m and the other at 35m as the pellet travels from the barrel (under the line of sight), up to the top of the arc (over the line of sight) and back down to zero and beyond.

If you are shooting _very_ close (less than 5m) you should expect to see the shot hitting low.
