It used to be common to keep a big old hob seperate from the jills to use with a line in the event of a jill killing a rabbit and failing to emerge from the bury, this line could be followed by digging a series of holes untill the hob was reached hopefully after driving the jill off her prey. The reason this is not so common now is that the locators are a far better option, more reliable, more efficient and a lot less time and effort.
