activeviii
Just been waking around the woods that i shoot on and i have found some pencil thin hazel that i have been plaiting. how long does hazel take to grow from pencil thin to walking stick thick please. as ts deep in an over grown wood i would like to play around with the thin stems and get then to twist and turn to make a stick with a difference. could i wrap rope around one to get something different. any ideas would be grand. thanks all Phil
adbirdy
Not sure how long it takes to grow, but it's not that long. (3 or 4 years at a guess but someone else might be more exact.) I have heard of people wrappling electrical flex around hazel stems to replicate the effect that occurs when honeysuckle grows aroung the stem, as these are often difficult to come by. Make sure it is deep in the woods though as someone else might help themselves to your hard work and patience, before you do!! Ade
