craftycarper
Whats the best way of cleaning these up to get a good colouring/polishing on them, also different tools & materials you use for this. Should be getting my first lot this week so going to start playing with them when they arrive.
HDF
I clean it with a rag soaked in acetone and then shape with a dreadnought file for the most of it and then sand it using progressively finer grits. If I expose some of the marrow when shaping I rub on some super glue and then sand it over. To finish I go over it all with metal polish. I've got a seamless transition from wood to phosphor bronze to antler to buffalo horn like this.
craftycarper
cheers for that, so it's that simple cut, file, rub down & polish as you would metal or wood
