Had an old file i purchased for 20p at a bootsale as i wanted to have ago at making a knife.

I used the Chimmney to heat the file to make it soft and yesterday i started on making the shape of the knife with the angle grinder, still got some filling todo on it and then think about making a handle before making the metal hard again...but not to bad for my 1st attempt.

I think the blade length will be about 3" long when finished

Cheers

Just a bit more work done to the knife before i packed up for the day.

Think the wood will sit tight to the top edge and then go just above the notches in the bottom of the knife.

Now i have to get some wood from some where and then saturday while having a BBQ, i will heat it all back up again and put it in some oil to harden the metal

Cheers

Im quite pleased with it so far :good:

i would sandwitch the tang between two bits of wood or bone as said before and then drill through and put some brass rod through then peen the ends to mushroom them out to give a good fit, or just put the rods in and then arraldite them in.

ps drill the holes before you temper the blade or it will be a pain in the ***

Looks great mate!

If you dont fancy wood - why not grab a bit of bone or antler to make the handle! That would look pretty boss!

I had some hardwood so have made a handle to fit the shape of the knife and today heated and hardened the metal back up

At present knife is in the clamp holding the handle in place which i have also fixed today

Tomorrow i will cut the pins down and hopefully get a pic on so you can see the finish item

Got some nice Ash for the next one :good:
