Guess it all depends on what you are ding to make the dog sit. you want to work towards a hand straight out over the dog and a single pip on hte whistle to make the dog sit, you will find this is will give you more of a chance out in the field as the dog understands what she needs to do. Agree with the above. Once you are confident she sits everytime you peep thw whistle, make her sit with the whistle, walk away from her (making sure she stays sitting) and recall her but when she is halfway back to you peep the whistle to get her to stop. If she does not do so and carries on coming to you- walk up to her pick her up and place her back in the postions she was meant to stop and walk away from her again and repeat the cycle until she gets the idea- then you can advance from that at getting her to stop on the peep of a whistle when you throw a dummy for example. Its best to start this of in your garden or sercure area so if she makes a mistake she can be corrected in environment that has no distractions, she is fully focused on what you are telling her. Browning Posted March 19, 2009 Report Share Posted March 19, 2009 Before you start with the whistle make sure she is 100% on voice commands. Then start to blow the stop command on the whistle, immediately followed by the voice 'stop/sit/wait' command. Your pup will soon pick it up.
