I have a large farm of beans to shoot over, its been ****, i was on the beans within 2 days, managed 12 woodies, not too bad,

i have been back several times and the pigeons are just not on them, they seem to be mostly on rape still

I put about 50 off the first day i was there but on average there has only been a few drifting about all day.

I think that the beans have been drilled deep, there is nothing on the top, all the pigeons that i shot had empty crops,

i think they were just passing birds that saw the decoys and came for a look

With the new drilling equipment it is very precise and drills deep (mine 5 inches) plus there is hardly any overspill. If you have a bean field or any type of newly drilled field you can trick them into landing thinking there is something there but you need them to be in the area first though. on my area they still want the rape, until the barley starts to shoot through.

On some land i can shoot the barley or wheat was planted in the winter and now is a good 2 incs long when will they pigeon he on that do u think? At the momnet they are on clover and rape still.

Once its got that long they wont bother with it, there will not be any seed left, mid summer is going to be your next best time,

They only seem to feed on wheat when its just been drilled, to clean up any spillages,

or when its just sprouting,

otherwise it will be when its ripe, if the wind has blown some down then thats where they will be.
