Hi. I am about to go and buy some nitromorse to strip the stock on my Rapid mk11 and rimfire soon to follow my shotgun but as i'm using it so much thought i would leave this out for now. Anyway the point is i have never done this before and was wondering if anyone knew the right way to go about this? Is it just a matter of putting it on with a brush and wiping off with a cloth or wire wool? Then do i sand it down? Need some advice please. Also can i have as many shotguns as i can fit in the 5 gun cabinet i have or just 5? Thanks mike

i think stu posted a thread in craft and diy about tru oil finish well you may not wish to oil the stock but look at the first few posts and that explains how to get the paint/laquer ... i think the rule on the shotguns is if you have a 5 gun shotgun cabinet stick to 5 if you have more tvague idea i think then get another cabinet simple as... but that is the vague idea, i think the FEO may need to give the thumbs up to the new cab though, someone please correct if wrong thanks...

Thanks mark am new to this so will look for the other one on how to remove it and i think i will want to oil the stock. Ya think it would be better to get another cabinet was just thinking of getting a sako quad with 2 barrels and wondered if it just counted as one gun in the cabinet (although not on licence) or two?

RE: Cabinet capacity.

Sako's with the quad barrel system are obviously firearms. In this particular case, I would consult your FEO as you will need variations adding to your FAC for each and every calibre which you do not currently have listed, not to mention a reason for needing each calibre.

The capacity of a cabinet is irrelevant, the security IS relevant.

If you acquire a second barrel for a Sake Quad, you require approval for the additional calibre on your FAC. It does count as 2 entries on an FAC because you need separate, valid reasons for both calibres.

The cabinet is not relevant in this case unless you have so many as to be considered an armoury, which I doubt. Having said that, it's wise not to store 10 guns in a 5 gun cabinet, simply for practical reasons.

Speak to your FEO.

Hi. Just to clear this issue up I spoke to my firearms officer and he told me that a 5 gun safe is for 5 guns only, as is a 3 gun safe is for 3 guns. Not sure if this is just for my area or all over but check it out first if you intend to get more guns than the safe states.
