Pigeon_decoyer
Has anyone heard of sabot pellets, My dad was telling me about them when he had them when he was younger! You put a like pellet into its plastic coating casing then insert it into your barrel, They are ment to be deadly but cant get hold of none anywhere! Cheers PD
paulos
yeah, i've had a few of them. they can work well at short range from spring guns, but for modern PCP guns they're quite poor. mainly because of their weight i assume. they resemble those rudely priced lead free dynamic pellets that the airgun mags raved about. stick to lead pointed or dome heads i say
SNAKEBITE
This came up a few months ago when I was thinking about making my own pellets. (an idea abandoned I'm afraid because of my discovery of accupels ) The pellet was inserted into the sabot which was a plastic cage affair which was then inserted into the gun. Upon firing the sabot would fall away from the pellet leaving it to travel onto its target. If you look down the threads to my one about designing pellets there should even be a picture on there! Hope this helps.
Devilishdave
The long and short is they are inaccurate and dont have significant Kinnetic energy could go straight threw a bunnie and not kill it. When promethius came out the sabbot died off. I would not recomend Promethius for quarrey either although they are resonably accurate so head shots wont be a problem. big simmo999
Stick to lead - just look at what the top boys in the mags are using - lead Myself I used to use wasps in the springer - now i've got a pcp i only use lazzapell
dr_nick
I have used some pellets with a very hard non lead core and a plastic skirt. They fly really fast (.177) and will go through anything, they messed up my pellet catcher. When I get home I will upload some pics of the pellet catcher and what these pellets have done to it. Details are here http://www.airgunpellets.com/promPell.htm
SNAKEBITE
Don't quote me but I have heard the plastic skirts can foul up the barrel of the rifle. It might be worth double checking with a knowledgeable source though. Don't want you messing up your gun.
dr_nick
I also thought the lack of weight might be an issue with the more powerful spring guns. Though they do reccomend them on sub 14ftlbs guns.
