Mr Sam
Hi, I have a Webley Sport air rifle around a year or so old. the Webley sport comes standard at 10lb power aand about 590 fps I was wondering if it would be possible to put a more powerful spring in it! possibly a Webley stingray spring. Is it safe to say I have to stick with the same brand springs or do most air rifles have the same size spring chamber ( or could I use a common spring like BSA lighting) I just want to bring the power to 11.5 ish
teal27
Theres loads of different springs out there, and different sizes, sometimes if you fit a 177 spring in a 22 it will go over the legal limit, or a gas ram would make it smoother. If your going for another spring try an ox spring there good but test it after you have fitted it through a chronograph. i used one in old air arms and it went to 19lbs but eventually after a few shots at targets it settled itself to bang on 11.9.

I know the xo spring by reputation only, and almost every one says its a bad idea being cheaply made over powerful, and as result losing accuracy. So I would prefer a option of a branded spring but then again a xo is available on ebay making it easy. How do I find out my spring size? I had trouble looking it up but maybe you know of a good website?
teal27
Hi mate try www.airrifleshop.co.uk/accesories/springs They have a new accelerator spring which should fit your rifle and should have measurements on there too. People will slate the ox spring simply because most havent tried it, mine was excellent it blew a hole in a piece of wood at 50 yards and had groups of 1" it settles down after a while to the power you would want,

Mr Sam
Thanks for the advice. I think I might go to the gun shop and ask a few question and see if I can get a deal on a fitted and tested main spring. dont want to risk having a over powerd gun. But if the the gun shop going to rip me off then the XO spring will have to do. Cheers. Sam
