skinny
i have just managed to secure 2 new permissions today, one is only about an acre or two but good for rabbiting and air gunning, but is way too close to houses and a main road for a shotgun. but the other is on a small farm which has a massive rookary near bye and the fields of cut grass are coverd in crows, and there are plenty of pigeons about. it boarders a few houses, some more fields and a road. i was wondering what the rules were dictating how far away you have to be from roads and houses when firing a shotgun and a .22 rifle? obviously i am not going to firing towards the buildings or raods but does any one no the laws? cheers for any help
BSA-airgunner
you will need to try and work out the noise irritation to the people in the houses...and you can garentee that there not as passionate sbout shooting as you...and the boom of a shot gun travels along way
skinny
out of all the houses only one is occupied during the day every one else works and they are a retired couple and the man shoots himself. so no problems there.
kev 1
Have a look on the BASC website, and it will tell you the rules and regs you are after....
DaveK
Theres nothing about distances from boundaries but it is an offence to discharge a firearm within 50 feet of the centre of a carriageway if it causes distress or interrupts a user of the carriageway, or words to that effect. Translated - a carriageway is a road. not a footpath, not a bridleway, A ROAD. 50 feet is @ 16 1/2 yards. Common sense should steer you to decide how to approach it from here. Get a book called fair game. It puts legislation such as the Wildlife and Countryside Act into plain English.
