casts_by_fly Posted June 29, 2009 Report Share Posted June 29, 2009 Paul, I picked up a box for short range, reduced load rounds in the 223. I still haven't gotten to them though. The problem with them is that they have a horrible BC. For any cartridge above a 221 FB (that round included) there is enough capacity to launch the 40 gr v-max, which has a lot better BC and will do nearly the same speed. The 35 gr is basically a ping pong ball. That said, it is supposed to be a great bullet for the hornet and I'm sure that launched at 3800 or more from a 223 it would make a mess of crows and rabbits out to 200 yards or so.
