deeksofdoom
I have had to bring my shotgun to the gunsmith last weekend. I noticed while out breaking a few clays with friends that the ejector on the left barrel was not ejecting cartridges from the barrel it wasn't even extracting the empty cartridge so I was having to pull it out with my fingers. The shotgun was also stiff to break open. I had a look at it the next evening, as soon as I removed the fore end I noticed a piece fall out. It was at the end of the fore grip the bit that fits right onto the action next to the chambers on the barrel. It was one of 2 levers on the fore end. Basically there are 2 levers which turn on a cam, they push back on the 2 pins which are pushed back on breaking the gun they extract and eject the spent cartridge from the barrel. They also re cock the firing pins aswell. I can't remember what the gunsmith called them, extractor pin/levers or something. Basically the gun was hand made in Spain about 30+ yrs ago and I don't think its going to be an off the shelf part. The company that made the gun are no longer. He said he would have to get the part made up and even then it is only roughly machined and he will have to do the rest by hand. If he can't do this himself he may have to send the gun to Birmingham to be repaired at a specialist place. Sorry but I have no pics. The gun is a Pedro Gorosabel SXS. Has anyone had to have similar work done and how much did it cost?
Harnser
A proper gunsmith should be able to make just about any part for a gun as long as he has a pattern . I would make sure you get a quote for the job before he sends it off to a specialist repairer . Another alternative is to take the piece to an engineering company and get them to make it for you . Good luck with the repair , Harnser .
Guest RemmySPS
A lot of Spanish guns were, and still are, made by little cottage industries around Eibar, similar to how it once was in Birmingham and you will find that a lot of these small parts are almost interchangeable with a little final finishing. Watch out that you “friendly” gunsmith is going to rip you off for a part that is more easily available than you think.
