Yonic
Hi. I was out last night zeroing the 223, managed to sort it in the end with the last 5 shot group shot being the one in the photo. its about 17mm centre to center so very pleased. The strange thing is on the last group 2 of the rounds had the primer puntured right through by the pin. You can see the problem on the left hand case compared to the right. This happened on the last group I shot after putting about 40 rounds through the rifle. Hadn't had it out for a bit and wanted to get to know it again. Can anybody explain why this was, It was only 2 of the 40 rounds this happen to. The rifle was getting a bit warm by this stage so not sure it this was a factor, And no i didn't just sit there and put 40 rounds through without letting it cool down for a bit. monkeymagic1969
Both those are pressure signs, do you load your own??? The one on the right has a crater and the one on the left has flattened and been pushed back on the firing pin - both loads were 'hot' but the one on the left was 'real hot' Edited July 10, 2009 by monkeymagic1969
Yonic
Not home loads, both rounds are factory Norma 50grn V-max. Cheers Jon

deadeye ive
I do load my own Pressure signs would indicate a far flattened primer than the example you have shown and to some extent even the etched writing on the back of the case is flattened also . looks to me like the primers are of softer material allowing the pin to punture in one case and nearly in the other . Doggone
Don't know if firing pins come in different diameters, but just looked at a fired 22.250 case and the dint in the primer is only a sixteenth of an inch diameter and I believe in the hand book it says 50 thou deep. Your primer seems to have a huge dint in it by comparrison. Andy
