mick miller
Well, I've drawn up a fairly professional looking letter of introduction, some natty business cards (I read that it helps), created a thorough permissions form and have spent many evenings over the last four weeks driving around and posting the letters into any likely looking farms, stables, large houses & orchards locally. I got all my insurances sorted (both BSAC & CPSA now) so I'm covered. I've spoken to farmers, stable owners, dump controllers with thus far, zero success (I'm expecting a long wait though!). So I was wondering, how long did it take you to get your permission sorted and was it from a informal letter, face to face meet or simply 'knowing who to ask'? Admiral Von Tirpitz
I think its knowing who to ask really, or joining a club who have permissions on many farms, I wish you luck and I suspect you will get a surprise call at random when a farmer gets an attack from something costing him/her money. Villebones
Well I got my first Lamping permission before I even had my Lurcher. My mums friends dad owns a farm and has allowed me to go up there. However unfortunately he turned onto the drink and has changed his mind. But on the good side theres a farm by me that I've been waching for a while now Absolutely teaming with rabbits. However I am rather shy and was unsure of how to go about asking. Then tonight whilst walking the dog i was on one side of a fence on the public path when the farmer appeared on the other side with his two huge german shepherds. He started talking about the dogs and i asked him about the rabbits and he was very happy. He also said there was a mangy fox which ive seen a few times that he wants shooting. I was buzzin. If you dont ask you dont get Edited July 23, 2009 by Villebones
mick miller
Oh I've been asking alright. Not sure where you're from (can't see as I type this) but round this neck of the woods it's mostly a case of 'join the queue' it seems. That said, I placed an ad elsewhere using a bit of lateral thunkage and fingers crossed I'll be popping over Saturday to check out a small piece of land apparently teaming with rabbits.
