stupidsalmon
Went out this afternoon to try and capture some pics of a pair of woodpeckers that have nested on some of my land. They really are beautiful birds. The hole: One of the parents: The chick: Feeding: Edited June 3, 2005 by stupidsalmon

Wigeon
not being funny but only the last 2 pics show the birds unless you use photoshop and adjust the colours Nice pics when you can see whats in them though Edited June 3, 2005 by Wigeon
stupidsalmon
The first two used the lowest quality on my digital camera so that i could get more zoom. In the first pic it is quite obvious where the woodpecker is and in the second, being captioned "the chick", one would naturally look the "the hole" and hey presto! So less of the criticisms please, i spent quite a bit of time getting those photos. :< :<
dunganick
they are indeed very nice pics the light gathering has probably been affected by the use of full zoom, so thats why its dark.... i too had a go at changing the mid tones etc.., so heres one without the red circle keep up the pics *i only changed the lighting a bit so that you keep most of the shaddows and high lights true to the original, just makes it a tiny bit easier than the original* Edited June 4, 2005 by dunganick

Ferret Master
Hi, Lovely great spotted woodpecker pics! I love to watch them apart from when they are drilling into the blue tits nest box to steal chicks or eggs!
Wookie
Which type are they? I know the RSPB were interested in finding out where Lesser Spotted nest (or was it the other sort??) as they are quite rare now. Any twitchers here that can identify them? Ferret Master
Hi, First of all I am not a twitcher! I'm a birdwatcher. Twitchers run all over the country upon hearing of a rare bird. I saw a group of them in Pembrokeshire last year that had just missed a bee eater. Some were on the floor crying! Birdwatchers just enjoy watching most birds. (I personally don't like corvids.) The birds are Greater spotted woodpeckers as the lesser spotted woodpeckers are about the size of a sparrow. Despite being a birdwatcher don't like Bill Oddie. (LACS connections.) :< Being a member of the RSPB I think I remember them wanting infomation on where the lesser spotted woodpeckers are.
