Wriggler
Last night while gutting my rabbits I noticed some black tar/oily liquid inside near the back end. When I had cleaned the rabbit the meat inside was almost black, not a deep red that could have been from blood in the chest cavity but a very dark almost black colour. Is this usual? In the past if a rabbit has had blood in the chest cavity it usually washes out leaving a slightly dark colouring to the meat. I was shooting with a shot gun and the back end had taken most of the shot. The crop of carrots they have been feeding on has been sprayed. Thanks
Harnser
That sounds like blood stains . It will look black if it is not in the heart or the lungs . Its blood that is being recerculated through the system after having the oxegen removed . Harnser .
