ferreter
Hi all are we all breaking the law when we shoot over stubble fields, fields that have been harvested etc, under the general licence for pigeons we can only shoot them, to protect crops from damage,so when the fields been cut ,harvested an the farmers taken what he wants from it ,ie his crop then the pigeons that come in to that field arent causing any damage, really we should be shooting the birds over laid wheat ,barley protecting the crop from damage when its growing,i know we can cause more damage to laid fields trying to retreve shot birds so ,i try not to shoot over these fields unless asked by the farmer,,just a thought ..cheers stuart
Cranfield
No, its generally accepted that you do not have to shoot the bird on the crop it is damaging. This question comes up about now, when most people are shooting over stubbles and again around Feb/March when the roost shooting usually starts.
