...Then again, if his licence was revoked because he could no longer produce a good reason to own a rifle (I'm guessing it was that) then he's fine. It's only if he's been convicted of an offence under section 21 of the police law book (or something like that)

Assuming that he is borrowing a gun from the occupier of any land and shooting in his presence then he is ok providing he has not been sentenced to a term of imprisonment for more than 3 months - 3 years in which case he would be prohibited from possessing firearms for 5 years and if for more than 3 years then he would be banned for life. So just because he is revoked does not mean he cannot handle a gun it merely means that his licence to possess weapons in his own right has been removed.
