james w
about a year ago i bought a nikko stirling 3-9x40 mountmaster and the zero wouldn't stay put, it was allways moving by about 4 inches at a time.i guessed it was just me being a **** shot but i read somewhere that it was a common problem so i took it back and the guy in the shop gave me a 4-12x 50 in stead because he had run out the other ones. got it home and put it on the supersport and it was brilliant , i hadn't realized how bad my old one was. but a few days ago it started doing the same thing, i wasn't hitting a 2 foot square board at 20 yards.so i re-zeroed it and it was fine . a few hours later i came back to it and it had moved a couple of inches down . i don't want to be using up the local gun shops supply of scopes by continuously swapping the it for new ones but I'm a tight wad and don't want to lose £60. so do i ask for my money back and bye a different scope from them of just swap it for a new one are they good quality scopes? john2
Is your scope moving ? has it the pin down in the rear mount ? Have you mounted it correctly, no insult intended. These are good scopes should be np problem I like the MTC scopes now have three all great one a HW97 two on PCP
peek-at
Is you gun a break-barrel type? I had exactly the same problem which turned out to be a broken part (split ring i think) in the hinged part of the barrel allowing side to side movement of the barrel. as you close it up after loading it may not be pointing directly forwards. james w
Thanks for the advice its a break barrel and whilst the scope is zeroed (for about 30 shots) I can get pellets on top of pellets at 20 yards. My last scope did move but I did the mounts up tighter and the problem didn’t go away. And yes I have mounted it correctly, i think Thanks for the replies
George1990
It's unlikely to be the 'scope if the change in zero is that much. More likely movement in the mounts, or as peek-at said, a part in the gun.
huntercarbine
if youve got 2 piece mounts try a one piece, its supposed to help reduce scope creep on springers.
