natcot
I've read through most of the walkie talkie related topics on here but cannot find any reference to voice activation that some walkie talkies have. The reason I ask is that more often than not I shoot with a friend, from his Hilux. Shooting from the truck is great and we use the common system of one tap on the roof for stop and another tap for go again, very primitive but works ok. It's the little comments, like "edge on a bit on mate", "cut the engine", or "look at that ****** jump! " that always follow with "what, eh, pardon" etc etc. I'd like to pick up a set of walkie talkies that work with voice activation, headsets would probably be good, allowing the shooter to be hands free and then hopefully the nights shooting would be a bit more social. Any thoughts or recommendations. Thanks

Anyway, I digest, the voice activation feature is also known as Vox. Might be worth knowing if you are searching for them online.
jonevo
I bought some a few years ago from aldi they are made by tevion, they are very small compact radios have 8 channels and also have VOX on voice activation, rechargable Ni-mh batteries, loads of features and they have a range of about .5 - 1 mile range, depending on the buildings in the area. the best thing is they are only about £
natcot
For only a few notes I guess it's worth taking a punt and getting a set. I can see how useful they would be when out pigeon shooting etc where you might be set up some distance apart, but nearly all my shooting is vehicle based. Long range isn't needed, it's just really hard to hear anything when you are driving.......perhaps I should turn the radio down/off
