See this picture of a female boar. Taken on green grass. Its not usual that you see them during the day (pic was made at 11:30 a.m.). She had small piglets with her but you cant see them because of the high grass. I made that last week.

We have a few boar living wild in West Dorset and elsewhere in Britain. There are enough of them to be included in the list of native species again. They escaped from specialist farms and now live wild. They are VERY shy usually - but one was seen in my village a while ago. They can be very aggressive.

I hope the numbers grow enough for us to start hunting them again - but that will be years ahead.

Nice shooting on the other thread - I think I would have soiled my underpants to say the least!

Hi Badsworth,

but there are also problems with many wild boar. Its nice for hunting but they can made large damages in agriculture. Especially mais, wheat, potatoes, on grass land (digging).

Dorset is a really nice area. Have been there for shooting twice. Good sika stags and nice bucks. And i even saw a lot of rabbits. But had only my 308

What type of shooting do you?

The main quarry I hunt are Foxes - but if I am out I will have a go at any species considered vermin. I don't shoot 'Game' - even though my 'permissions' wouldn't mind. Generally I only shoot things that are causing a nuisance of themselves - and one day boars will be!

Good hunting
