POLL: Breeds of pheasants released and why

Hello all;

 

Ive released many differnt types of pheasant onto my shoot with varying results. This year I have released pure manchurians which are amazingly looking and flying; but on a larger shoot from my studying for holding, flying and eating the best all round bird is a french common ringneck.

 

What are peoples views? You can choose a mixture of all the breeds as I know some people release a mix.

I release whatever the game farmer delivers!

 

Very very few keepers I know are bothered about the more exotic varieties. To them some have neck rings, some don't, and some are melanistic, and thats about as far as it goes.

We are a large partridge shoot but put down a few pheasants for show i.e golden and revees :blink:

I've never had problems with manchurian and I've realeased them by the tens of thousands with no real issue.

Is there any thing that says you can't release Golden or Amherst phesants.

 

I've got a few pairs and was thinking about breeding some for release next year.

Im sure I heard on my keepers diary dvd that you cant release golden or amherst; besides they mainly want to run than fly. Reeves however fly alittle better.

Ill take some more photos of them when they colour up more; they seem to be slower to develop than other breeds.
