groach1234
Well had the interview yesterday and have had it granted yesterday. My FEO was a genuinely nice guy and was more interested in talking about shooting than looking for reasons not to grant me the FAC and it turns out we shoot the same day at the clay grounds i have just started to shoot at. But anyway in the next 2 weeks or so i am expecting to be getting my FAC with 22lr and 17hmr then a short trip to the gun shop to choose the gun, I'm thinking hmr George
njc110381
Well done. I say to every newbie that the interview isn't going to be really hard like they expect it to be (the same as everyone told me when I got mine) but it's hard to relax until you're had it! I'd go for the HMR first too I think. They're safer for a beginner and shooting them is easier. When you get better at judging range and the bunnies get twitchy with the noise of the shot move over to the .22lr and surprise them. Good luck with it and most important of all be safe. The number one thing to remember is you can't bring a bullet back once it's gone, and the range and damage potential of a firearm rated rifle is huge. You may leave a few bunnies you're not sure about but they'll be there tomorrow. Talking of safe shots I can think of one field I shoot that's lovely. You can shoot it from either end because it banks up in the middle. I walked it the other day because it's just been harvested and right at the peak of the hill where it's not shootable from either direction there was a bald area about the size of double decker bus on its side! It used to be like it all the way down the margin, but now it's just on the one spot. Never underestimate how useful your air rifle could still be, I had to go out and buy one! deputy dog
Good news amd well done butt. I only yesterday bought my 1st fac rifle. I had a .17hmr with all the trimmings lol. Felt chuffed as punch when i was putting my combo together. As you said, i too had a very relaxed interview from my fao and he also wanted to talk more about shooting then reasons not for me to have an fac. Good luck with your new shooting in future and enjoy your sport. I'm of to put a few rounds down range lol.
