i brought an mtc viper 3-12x44 friday and pleased with the optics and recticle but have one problem i might take it back for the elevation turrets number seem to be on a piece of material wrapped round the turret and turn spin round when i turn them without adjusting the turret so they are offplaces (if that makes any sense) hard to explain if you understand is this right ? thanks... thanks alot. yeah stupid me ! i tightened that and it no longer turns.... :good: but theres one more problem needs diagnosing you know when you pull the turret up to adjust then click back down the windage turret does it fine but the elevation turret clicks up but isnt a positive click back down it locks it but doesnt click nicely down just slides down unlike the windage turret.

ok nice one kevin. i think im going to take them back iv compared the quality to my edgar brothers new jap lenses. and the mtc just dont compare. when i have the mtc on 12 mag and the edgar bros on 9 mag the edgar seem more zoomed and a 10x better quality picture. also the field of view seems bigger on the edgar brothers and its a 3-9x40 and the mtc is a 3-12x44 AND a 30mm tube and the edgar STILL seems a bigger field of view. im not happy with them at all..  glass just isnt quality. :good:

Funny you should say that, I read somewhere (BBs site I think) that the long awaited Taipan was not up to standard optically thats why its release has been delayed.

Perhaps QC is slipping on other models, I cant fault my Viper its a 10x44 I also have two Edgar Bros Scopes and I have just brought a Vortex Viper which is made in the same factory as the Nikon Monarch (if you believe what is writen on American shooting sites) and the are all crystal clear optics and precise adjustment, perhaps you have a Friday nite special.

heres the problem i want a clear quality good field of view scope which iv got (edgar bros) but it has normal crosshairs and i need some other type of crosshair mildot, scb, etc to help with longer range shooting which im getting alot now. so i thought the mtc would be excellent choice because of the scb recticle but im completely now happy with the optics and the weight. ....so its one of them..... can you reccomend a scope that is as clear OR better than edgar bros new jap lenses. AND with another type of crosshair mildot etc. ?? thanks alot any adice would really help

Thats a difficult one, whatever one person on here likes, ten others will come on and say some other make is better, I`ve been shooting a long time and have got to use most of the scopes out there at one time or another, some makes are still around, others have long gone and also dont forget there`s a lot of copy rubbish out there, but at the end of the day its your money and your choice.

Your best bet would have been the Game Fair you could have got to handle/try a multitude of scopes thus helping in our quest for the perfect optic.

All I can say is find a good stockist that has stock you can try out,as i said JLS or Shooting Supplies Bromsgrove have a good choice also Widcat rifles in Droitwich, I`m sure someone will be along with more local suppliers shortly

id say the mtc i have is comparable to an old custom shop tasco, or an old deben, , like hakko glass, for the money you cant grumble, well i cant for mine, its an inbetween , cheap but usuable, its not a zeiss or scmidt but its deffo useable.. maybe as has been said you have had a duff one, i have a viper model by the way
