  1. was in the same situation as you about a year and half ago so simply put a 52g magnum fiochhi though an xf choke , the only prob was the lad did drop my gun! but fortunately i did catch it ! it pays to only put one in at a time :)the poor lad wasnt expecting that after his first shot was with a hull comp x lol gotta have a laugh. if you have an old shotgun you dont care much for barrel wise look up dragons breath on you tube... now thats funny :)a lot better than the old black powder gag...
  2. d@j and fiocchi top 1's pile of poo in my experiance of shooting them both, both as dirty as a saturday student night out with jamming in autos occasionally and misfires for the top 1's.. the only ones i steer clear of myself, the rest all seem pretty fine what i have tried.. although i dont like the lylevale english sporters in a non auto because they dont half kick ok for 50 birds but im not that sensitive to recoil, but even i notice it after a few 100 birders back to back..gives me a proper flinch.. great in a auto though.... horses for courses i guess pick something cheap and you like and just shoot. and forget about what your using.. i like kents myself as there cheap and they just work time after time. if you really wanted to get critical and anal you could pattern loads of carts with the chokes you use mostly and find one thats perfect for your gun for that ambient air and cart temperature. imho just shoot it lol
  3. kents are fine and are pretty good value for money really for what you get they do vary from batch to batch on the turnover and crimp so deffo worth checking before you leave the shop if your using a semi auto, but in the last 8 months not had a square edge one tbh..... i like using them through full choke for more pellets on the bird seems to do the trick to 35yards humanely.... dont like fiochhi's tbh just dont seem the same quality of cartridge as the kent and ive seen loads of misfires with them at the clay ground.. hull comp x arnt to bad and are super smooth. black gold are black gold say no more but do no worse than kents imho. may aswell buy 32g of 6's for there price though...
  4. Im finding it hard this year around by me! all the crops are stunted and there is a different mix of crops also to add to the confusion of whats happening, they are about as ive been decoying 2 days a week over the last 3 weeks to get my eye-in on patterns and flight lines , the one banker of a shoot in warm weather is a grass field of clover with a overly large muck heap with shallow water all year around with 60 acres of wheat at the back of it ! its been awesome the last few years ! but this year maize has been planted and the water has gone :(..... now the last few weeks has been a tad interesting ! for a few hours work i normally have about 10 birds , but of them only a couple are coming into the pattern the rest are just on the flightline going somewhere for a sit down ! im guessing another 3-4 weeks and england is going to come alive with pigeons on crops you can just sense it starting , but there holding back for whatever reasons crop related or breeding related! they are most definately quiet in the heat at the moment ! hopefully that will all change when the feeding frenzy starts !
  5. It's the old model pal so the the kits to change caliber are a little more pricey. But if you want rid they seem to sell well on evil bay with what you have there I think you would get 85 notes for it maybe more ? If I didn't have 2 already I'd have had it off you ! If you can't shift it drop me a pm I'm sure I could find a home for it.
  6. Browning 525 Inv spotter 1 1/2 years old had about 20k carts through now 500 being over 32 gram up to 56 gram ! Oiks ! Never missed a beat ! Great gun .(slight erosion on top firing pin noticed) Browning gold sporting clays with a ported barrel Inv + bought 2nd hand and had it pretty much rebuilt by the seller since then not missed a beat only ever put clay carts and 30 gram pigeon loads through it though. Very reliable and cycles everytime , never had a jam yet ! (since the rebuild) :- sled, firing pin and gas piston !
  7. kent gamebore 30gram 6's fibres as there cheap and they do the job pefectly over decoys. kent 28g 7.5s fibrewad , as they are cheap and shoot no different to any other cartridge for clays appart from being a little kicky.... and my prefered choice 32 grams of 6.5's homeloads over greendot and a cx2000. and if im on a el cheapo mission its gm.3 powder , just need time to make them.. and a note if your a semi user kents cycle very well..unlike fiochhi's
  8. i use remmington prems gold tips, and in the cold weather i get the occasional cracked neck, but in warm conditions i never seem to get one, they still hit the same place, but like has been said it aint a nice thing to see!! the only thing i have had so far out of a fair few thousand rounds is a slow firing on a handful of rounds in really cold weather ! -13 one night, where i pulled the trigger and 1/2 second later it finally fired with a few flames shooting out the moderator, out of curiosity i put 10 rounds through the lr on the same night and noticed the same flames out the moderator with unburnt powder being ignited in the silencer ! since its warmed up though not a single problem ....
  9. 154 at one shop and 161 at another for a thou of 28g fibre kent velocitys leic and rugby way
  10. got to confer with this statement , normally the best performing load is at the upper end of the load table. but always pays to make a few cartridges of each with .5 grains different to try on a pattern plate... besides i find a hot or cold day makes the biggest difference to cartridge loads... on a hot day they shoot very similar. on cold days it tells the men from the boys so to speak
  11. easy lads. pressure is dangerous no doubt about it, but i think cookoffs point is that for economical use of powder it needs to be high enough to encourage a wasteless "lean burn" state so to speak so your making the most of what your using (burnrate and load effectively wisely used so its all burnt in the discharge cycle with maximum speed imparted without blowing the pattern or causing shot setback) why use 24.5 grains of powder for 10fps extra speed over 24grains.. the other thing i have noticed on rather rich slowburning loads is the effect of rocketing at the muzzle causing more muzzle flip . which can be reduced if the load is tweaked a little and generally in the more economical way....
  12. forgot to add , has to be peter lawman for powder vectans or gm.3, sandwell fieldsports for primers cheddites cx2000's, and folkstone engineering supplies for fibre wads... makes reloading super cheap pal.. as for shot, thats the tricky part, it pays to know the right people, i had a load off a chap on here and i have a load off a chap at my shooting ground which is ballast weight which i buy for scrap value (lucky me) ! sometimes it just falls into your lap other times its a painfull experiance buying some at full retail....
  13. i have a MEC600JR i believe i bought it off mr cookoff (its still going good pal) fibres arnt bad to load at all , thats all i use it for, be prepared to mess a few up setting up and finding the right stack height , after that like has been said run run run, the biggest bonus i have found with the kit i have got is the adjustable charge bar ! god that makes life easy ! simply increase or decrease the cavity to required weight of powder and shot and away you go , super flexible to different loads and with the mec600 you can buy different calibre tooling to enable reloading of different gauges and cart sizes ! another big bonus . get a mec you wont look back... when its pigeon bashing time i knock out 500 at a time down the shed with the radio on , it can be a bit of a chore if your pushed for time, so be prepared to take a few hours out to make them..
  14. my 452 likes in the order of accuracy eley lapua rws winchester dont even bother with remmies or cci junk both are cack in mine what i use in the field are winnies for there extra stopping power, and if im having a play with some targets out to 300 yards !!! eleys everytime, nothing else comes close .... pretty dam accurate those things !in the real world though under lamp, if its in an inch at 80 yards , who cares its a dead bunny ..
  15. hi onlyme's is there a chance of you pm,ing me the gm3 load data please.
