Glad to hear that you are happier with the dog.

 

 

Yes , I have now equaled all last seasons bag in two flights.

Been pleased with the dog , still some work to be done on delivery but he is now showing that he understands what his job is and seems alert as soon as I raise the gun.

 

Needs more work on direction though, but things going better than anticipated so far.

He is not running in as he is pegged at the moment so does not attempt it , I take the leash of and have him sit for a short while before I send him its is nice to see him showing a interest .

 

Just a thought this is wise at present and I still tether mine when I am expecting the tidal bore or other hazards but do think on if your having reluctant deliveries to the hide it could be a factor between freedom and being tied to one spot, this I have experienced first hand. Its a lot more to do with the expectation that every retrieve is theirs rather than a privilege IMO anyhow. I suppose you making him wait helps some, will he allow himself to be re-tethered and not sent I wonder? Its a rock and a hard place though if you want to shoot something rather than dog train on the marsh.
