bazzashadow
hi all what decoy pattern do you use the most?
JimLondon
I tend to throw them out hap hazard.
Charlie_79
I tend to put mine out in no particular pattern, all I make sure is that they are not all too tightly bunched together and that the majority are facing into the wind
Milo
Depends on the wind and how many dead birds I have but generally just two groups with a completely clear landing area in the middle. Similar to the natural approach of Archie Coates rather than John Batley's regimental V. Half the fun is experimenting to find what works for you in different conditions. Good luck. kenholland
a bunch either side of the hide works for me normally if they come in that's fine but if not chop and change till you get it right, that's what it's all about.
Guest Wilksy
I went for an eclipse crescent pattern today worked a treat!
NickB65
watch the birds in your area..... some will fly over and land behind and some in front.... as long as there is a gap they will land but best to have a good sized area for the to land in. look at the flocks in the field and most will face into the wind but not all - they are never in a straight line but there is nearly always a clear feeding line - some will have them in a horse show facing away some the reverse..... as long as there is a clear landing area big enough and birds either side in a natural scatter then you will attack some..... I like to mix a few crows in the pattern to make it look natural and a couple of magpies on the very edge. The crows seem to make the pigeons feel relaxed in coming closer and the magpies make the crows seem happier coming closer....... trial and error....... part of the game :-)
