Suffolk shooter
Well Poults are being delivered 7am Thursday morning this week, Drinker systemmin place with 2x 1000litre tanks feeding 6 autodrinkers. Feeders are in all the plantations and small hopers along hedgerows. Popholes wired in and covered until necessary, electric fence done and checked, perimeter sprayed with industrial strength "Round-up". We already have this years wild poults running round the outside of the pen and a few plus adult birds in the pen as the feeders are full. I am off to buy Flubvenet in a minute to put in the water and then other than checking on the birds when delivered and ensuring feed and water is topped up, that is it until our first day 27th October. I keep meaning to go and take some photos of the pen and layout, but stupidly forget to take the camera. I have been through some of our other woods where we carried out brashing work and brambles/nettles etc are climbing through them so hopefully they will be supported through to december if we have a mild winter again. Have seen lots of wild partridge chicks/poults along with pheasant around the shoot, and can't wait until the weather turns colder for the large number of woodcock we get to flight in. We have a few resident birds left from each year, but we regularly see 20-30 birds each day we shoot with two particular marshy/wet areas producing every time. I will update you again as things go. Cranfield
It sounds as though things are coming together nicely. After all the problems of last year, lets hope this coming season is the best your Shoot has ever had.
