  1. Easily changed to autosafe at a gunsmiths for not too much money, had mine done recently cost £30/40. Hope this helps. Huey
  2. Thanks for all the useful posts. I have checked the pressure test stamp on the barrels which reads 1390 which I assume to be bar? Anyway after much deliberation I think I am safe in using HP steel shot with 1/4 and 1/2 chokes as long as I dont over step 32g #4's I'll post some photos if my barrels split....
  3. The gun is choked 1/4 and 1/2. Spoke to GMK today and they seem o think that gun is fine for steel shot but not high performance loads. thats a shame because I have two boxes of RC high performance 32g #4!!
  4. I have a Beretta 687 with fixed chokes and want to go duck shooting using steel shot will this damage the gun? Cheers Huey
  5. In the back of my mind this was my preffered option as I really carnt bring myself to start boring lumps ou of he stock. Any yes MK38 it is a very dense piece of timber. My only concern with adding weight is that it adds to to he overall weight of the gun which is already heavy due to the density of the timber. Will give it a go though! Thanks
  6. I can only speak from personal experiance the 686E is an out and out sporter, it has sporting stock dimentions and is set up to break clays. It has what I understand to be a grade 1/2 stock and is reasonabley well finished. The gun is designed to fire hundreds of thousands of rounds without a flicker and if in reasonable second condition if treat well this gun will last a life time. I would suspect that the slightly cheaper SP1 is not as well finished as the 686E, even if it holds simular attributes. If I was you I would buy the best I could afford and stick to it. Best of luck Huey
  7. Hi Can any of you advise, I have a 28" 12g sporter which is stock heavy and requires balancing to bring point of balance back to hing pin instead of being at the back of the action. Do I a) consider drilling out the stock or B) add weight to forend/barrel? PS The stock is quite nice and I dont want to ruin it. Thanks Huey

  11. Tried it and it worked a treat with lighter fluid, thank you all for your advice
  12. Bought the gun second hand so all I know is its clear glue which has been used to stick a recoil pad on.
  13. Did it get all the glue off as well or were you using it for another purpose?
