  1. Back in the 80's my first gun was a non ejector baikal o/u I was only young and used to buy Baikal cartridges as they were cheap, however I remember shooting at the Kingsferry gun club one day and an "official" walked over to me and "invited" me to purchase some different cartridges from their little shop. I seem to remember them being quite loud !
  2. Hi Macca, Thanks for the reply, its stamped on the left side of barrel BRNO MK1 .22 cal LONG RIFLE Where the barrel meets the receiver are what look like proof marks and the number 52. It came with two all steel magazines a 5 and a 10 shot, and there is an extended magazine catch fitted. The barrel has front iron sights and a slide in rear iron sight which is not fitted as there is a Bushnell scope mounted, but was included in the sale along with the original magazine catch. I think i will see if i can get the stock refinished (im not too good at woodwork)as its not too bad just a few dings and scratches, the rear sling stud is missing though but i presume i can just screw a new one in its place.
  3. Hi all, Just picked up a cheap Brno mk1 rfle, it shoots great but would like to change the stock for a plastic / fiberglass item. Anyone know whats available if anything ? Rgds Dave
  4. Thanks lads thats great, didnt want to go out without makin sure i was legal !
  5. He difinately has a closed FAC like mine, wording is the same ie: land deemed suitable by chief of police and the land is definately cleared (he owns it) for .22 and .17HMR
  6. Hi all, Recently got permision to shoot over land so put in for a variation on my FAC for another .22 rimmfire (i already have one that i use at my local range) and moderator. All went ok and FAC came back no problem, cert is closed as expected, my question is this, i have been invited to shoot on a friends land that is already cleared for .22 and .17HMR ( it was cleared for his FAC ) can i join him for an evening shoot or does he have to give me a written permission that i then have to then send off to the police before i go out with him ?
  7. Thanks for the reply's, well at least i know they have received it, cheque was cashed on Friday ! (i posted it on Monday)
  8. Most of the guest guns on the shoot i beat for turn up in tweeds and shirt and tie !
  9. Hi all, It took nearly six months for my SGC to come through, whats the wait like nowdays for a FAC application to be granted in Kent.
  10. Thanks very much manc-munsters very helpfull. Rgds Dave
  11. Hi all, Appologies for hijacking the tread but ive just read this My question is, if you are granted an FAC on the basis of being a full member of a HO approved target shooting club then secure permission to shoot over a local farmers land do you have to apply for a new FAC ? Rgds Dave
  12. Hi all, Been using my Air Arms 410 classic on my two permissions and now want to apply for a FAC. Iv'e put down on the application form that i would like a .22LR with moderator and I thought i may as well put down for a FAC air rifle at the same time, what should i write on the form for this ? Also, while im here, i have two letters of permission from the two landowners, do i send these off with the application or do i still have to get them to fill in the seperate little form that came through with my application? Thanks in advance Dave
  13. Hi, Thanks for the reply, my shotgun details are of course on the European Firearms pass however I dont think the air rifle needs to be on the European Firearms pass as its not an FAC rifle. im just not sure of any laws/restrictions in France regarding the use of air rifles. I think i will take cartridges with me just in case, and then also try to buy some and see what happens, at least i will know for next time.
  14. Just got a second permission to shoot over a number of fields owned by a local farm. Its a very large area and not sure where to start, Permission says i can shoot and remove rabbit and pigeon, whats the best way to approach this new land. Should i just go for a walk round with my gun to see whats about ? Any advice on how to approach this would be aprreciated as i am a novice in the field with a shotgun (only shoot clays up till now) and dont particulary want to spend loads of cash on decoying equipment that i know nothing about. I am also allowed to "lamp" the land but must inform the farmer and local police as to when i am going out and where i am likely to be, again any tips on lamping would be gratefully received. Thanks Dave
  15. Hi all, Going to France on holiday next month and just got my European Firearms Pass through the door today so can now take my shotgun with me (we are staying on a farm) question is can i use the firearms pass to buy cartridges over there or should i take enough with me ? Was also thinking about taking my Air Arms 410 classic with me, anyone know of any restrictions regarding air rifles over there? Thanks Dave
