I have recently bought one of these for a bit of use in the field and some wildfowling. Does anyone know if they are capable of shooting steel shot.
Many Thanks

DUE TO THE SIZE AND WEIGHT OF IT THE WHEEL HAS TO BE COLLECTED RATHER THAN POSTED.

I have a cz varmint .17 hmr and find it needs cleaning after all outings even if I've only put through five or six rounds.
.17's leave a lot more **** in your barrel compared to say a .22 this is because .22 rounds pretty much clean the barrel every time thy are fired.
A tip for cleaning your .17 is to invest in a good cleaning rod and push through a couple of earbuds that have been cut in half. You can push one or two through with bore cleaner on them and then finish it off with a couple of dry ones. It works for me.

My local clay ground sells Gamebore Steel shot and have an information poster up explaining a few facts about Steel shot. The information seems to be a Gamebore publication and the bit that really intrested me was where it said that steel shot cartridges were fine to through shotguns that are not proofed for it. The reason they give for this is was that because the steel is contained in the plastic cup of the wad it never actually comes into contact with the interior of the barrel.
Has anyone ever heard this before?
Many Thanks

I have enjoyed shooting clays for a few years now and I am very happy with my choice of clay cartridge but this year I've joined my first pheasant and partridge shoot and have no idea of which cartridge to use.
Please can some of you experienced game shooters offer some advice an which manufacturer and shot size etc to use. Plus will I have to shoot fibre wad or can I stick with plastic wads.
Many Thanks

Listening to the general feedback I'll give foxes a miss with my .17 hmr and will stick to bunnies where it is the perfect tool for the job.
Many Thanks

Currently I shoot Remington ammo through my CZ Varmint. I would be very intrested to hear any information, good or bad on other makes of .17 Hmr ammo.

I have recently been shown how to squeek foxes and can now get them to come within thirty feet from me. So far I have not taken a shot on a fox because I would like to know where to place the shot for a clean kill. I shoot a .17 Hmr and have read many articles of people killing foxes with this cal.
Please can anyone offer any advise.

Thanks everyone for the advise I had no idea how great the response was going to be through this forum.
All the best

I am a keen rabbit shooter and now that the dark evenings are closing in I want to get a lamp kit. I shoot a CZ varmint .17 Hmr with a 4-14x50 scope fitted and would appriciate some advice on which lamp kits are the best.
I shoot on my own more often than not so I feel a gun mounted lamp would be best for me.
Many Thanks
