    I remember selling petrol at the local garage for 2 shillings and one (old) penny a gallon in about 1970, as a 15-year old kid (for the kids on here now, that's about 10 and a 1/4 pence a gallon, for premium economy petrol) _I wish it was that price now :good:

    Iam sure it was more than that then because i can remember my old man moaning about the price of petrol reaching 5 bob a gallon he had a ford pop and that must have been about 1964/65

    In your line of work you should be use to having a few trying characters around.

     

    It always astounds me that some people take thinks so seriously. Anybody would think that it was it was a matter of life and death the way they allow themselves to get so wound up of differences of opinions.

    I am generally an optimistic pessimist it was meant as a joke and if i knew how to put those emoticon smiley faces things on i would have used some, you are right it is so easy to wind some people up.By the way i have had a 22.250 but i still prefer my triple duce for foxing much nicer calibre to shoot i do have a 243 and a 308 aswell.I also have a 22 wmr semi auto much better than the .17 hmr

    Unlike a shotgun cert, which allows you to buy any mix of gun eg. 12ga 20ga, 410 and in sami-auto or side-by-side, over and under etc with an FAC EVERY gun type and cal must be sp[ecified on the cert and reason for pocession and place of use required.

     

    So a .22rf will not allow you to own a .22wmr.

    Sorry that info is incorrect when i bought my wmr from avalon guns i only had 22rf on my ticket no probs with police or avalon it is a rimfire

    hi there folks iv put in for a FAC and on it iv asked for a .22 rimfire as i was told to do from a friend. iv spent many hours on the net looking at bullets,speeds,muzzle velocity etc and came across a new (old) bullet the .22 wmr. excuse my ignorance but can this bullet be fired from a "normal " .22 lr rifle like a 10/22 or is it a diff gun?:good: any info on this would be great thanks :good:

    It's a totally different gun mate not inter changeable i have a remington 597wmr semi auto i shoot foxes out to about 120mtrs so it is a fair bit more powerful than 22lr, it is about 350 ft llbs compared to about 100 ft llbs for subsonic

    don't tend to hit mine, grabbing by the jowells and talking to is another matter. Its a hard one some very good trainers near me do it and they have impeccably behaved dogs. I guess it can be one hit versus a lot of other reprimands, I'm not for it but I wouldn't condemn it either

    Once had a little old lady knock on my door one evening said she was collecting for wiltshire wildlife, so i went out to my shed and got her two rabbits. went back and handed them to her.She said i don't think you understand she then said "Oh how exciting we are on opposite sides"we had a chat about wildlife in general, she then mentioned her and her husband actually liked rabbit.I said she could keep the rabbits and i put a couple of quid in her box and off she went, both parties happy

    nope. why should i be? as i said, bothered = annoyed and irritated. theres plenty of things in life that i dont agree with, but if i let them all bother me i'd have a stroke, or at least a bad case of high blood pressure :hmm:

    Do you two muppets realise that this will include rifle and airgun ammunition aswell it may not bother you but it should,but you may be one of these people that take up a hobby for five minutes then get bored with it and move on to the next one (good luck with your crocheting and kite flying)

    What do you think of chocolate labs as working dogs i have always said i wouldn't have one if it was given to me.I don't think a chocolate has won a field trial,i personally have never seen a good one working, the few i have seen have been hard mouthed, now i have just had a litter of pups and i have now got 3 blacks 2yellow and a chocolate.This has set me thinking why should the chocolate one be any worse as a working dog than her brothers and sisters just because of the colour of her coat.I am thinking of keeping her, training her up and see what she turns out like.

    ...and also just for the sake of clarity, Deer cannot be shot at night, only between one hour before sunrise and up to one hour after sunset.

     

    I'm sure the OP is aware of this but just stating for safety's sake as at least one person (and probably only one) thought it was ok to lamp Deer! What's next? Wild Boar with a FAC Air rifle?

    Actually you can get air rifles that are well capable of taking wild boar they have been used on pig bison and bear and some of the big stuff in Africa i think they go up to .50 calibre certainley .308, so why not wild boar over here with an fac air rifle

    I have been waking up each morning with a really stiff knee, and to be honest if I try to stretch it first thing I am in extreme pain. Also if I bend my knees they creak really badly when I get back up. Bearing in mind that I am only 26 years of age it is hardly old age, I just hope it is nothing serious. When I am on the go during the day it doesn't seem to be a problem.

    I think there's alot to be said for the media. BBC more like EBC. What other country has to wait till a Monday night to watch highlights of the of their Premier league football? Well we do unless you pay for Sky Sports. But at least Match of the day is on a Saturday night. Rediculous. I'm not getting onto funding here but it doesn't do it any favours.We all pay the same license fee for it.. The sports presenters don't do it much good either Motson, Leneker, Laurenceson cant stand any of them they are so up England this and that, its sickening. They couldnt give a toss about any regional sport. Alot of that is why I and many Scottish people dont like seeing England win because through media it gets rammed down our throats any chance they get. Take John Terry and Wayne Bridge-gate. If that was a Scottish, Welsh, Northern Irish skipper the national media wouldnt give a monkeys!

     

    As for the national news on the EBC how ever can it be classed as national ?

    It never carries any regional news on it. I know we all have our own regional news but thats not the point, there is a national broadcast of news that should take in some regional stories and have an equal share. Take the shooting in broad daylight of a Glasgow gang member in a supermarket car park....never even made the national news. Any popular to stereotypes it doesn't happen up here everyday.

    If that was anywhere in England it would have been all over the national news. Any time someone gets stabbed its front page news down South, happens up here...doesn't even feature.

     

    Take a look at the BBC weather national forcast....The moving display lingers and languishes over the Southern counties and then proceeeds to take a quick and pathetic wizz by Scotland and Northern Ireland. That annoys the hell out of me and everything else I mentioned. Now I dont watch ti and watch the regional nwes instead. So alot of bad feeling cetainly I feel comes from that. As for getting called 'Jock' that is a sure way to irratate people up here and can in itself be classed as racist and offences for such behaviour exist within our judiciary system.

     

    Just a few thoughts..

    Problem is, when you have a crash at 40mph and make yourself near enough brain dead. Who's going to pay the bills? - The NHS. and who pays the NHS? we do.

     

     

    Go about without one all you want aslong as your BUPA or something.

     

     

    Back in the day there was no law regarding helmets, seatbelts and drink driving was hard to prove.

     

    Today I believe that anyone who deliberately does not comply is a cretin.

     

    I wish that cars were immobilised when the seat belt was not on and mobiles exploded when used in the drivers seat.

    I have been working since i was 16 never been on the dole never claimed any thing in my life and probably never will, so the odd brain injury paid for by the NHS is probably my right. I also escaped death in an accident once because i wasn't wearing a seatbelt. I also believe ,and not just today,that anyone who blindley follows rules is much much lower than a cretin. Was that not hitler's generals excuse."WE WERE ONLY OBEYING ORDERS".Big brother is watching you

    Sorry boys got to dissagree with you, it should be my choice if i want to wear a seat belt or a crash helmet, yes i know the consequences but if i want to ride a motor bike with the wind blowing in my hair it should be my choice.People soon start whining about civil liberties when stop and search or id cards are mentioned this is just the same only it is my civil liberty that has been taken away
