I'd never hand to the police, offer it for free to a cert holder or just give to an rfd  they will scrap or give to a gunsmith. Do you think the police or should I say gun hating government will use the legal guns in an anti gun propaganda media frenzy ?

A dealer will refuse to take unless you pay them .

We know because we counted the pellets in the clay Vs the average pellet count in the cartridge. That is through a full choke.

Bismuth is okish when shooting through open chokes and pushing 1250fps. That's ok for a 30 metre shot. It does still break up a bit and can again do so in the bird. Bismuth is a fragile metal, even if you add a bit of tin as they don't molecular bond.

But is awful at 1450fps through a full choke which is what you'd need for birds at 50-70 metres. Then steel is also not great at that distance, simple physics of kinetic energy and defamation of shot or lack of it on impact.

This will all come as a real eye opener to all of the wild fowlers who have been using Bismuth to good effect for over 10 years .Are you sure your not just trying to discredit any competition to your new shot , (honestly mind ).

It is really simple and not that hard to understand. The chap is about 80 years old and noticed the bulge, didn't look in the barrel. It is the worst we've seen.

The gun was made in the early 1900's and it is not a semi auto made in Turkey. Instructions stamped on the barrels, you do make me chuckle!

I've put all the information into one page on our website. Including a drop test video. We've tested the hell out of this, it works perfectly and it just needs ammunition manufacturers to pick up the phone and order it (after March next year as machines being built now). https://www.hortonguns.com/?page_id=819 If you want it, contact Hull, Eley, Lyalvale and Gamebore and ask when it is available.

You do not state the gun condition prior to the shoot or the type of cartridge, you do not know what type they were hp or not ,it really is quite simple to understand the most important facts are missing ,yet it suits a retailer specialising in fine English guns to blame steel very easy to understand .He could even have been poking 3 inch shells or 2 3/4 inch shells in to a fine old English 2 1/2 inch chambered gun …. without these facts you are speculating .Simple.

Also your table from your link stating permitted wads for Bismuth…ie  cupped plastic wad is incorrect, fibre is often used .

Well holloway, I am half German, dad was on the wrong side, and a pow here, I think German made weapons were supreme, and the Simpson family made weapons for the German military, Lugers Bayonets, Rifles etc, If I have my history right? The Simpson family were Jewish, that mad man Hitler came to power, he took over there business and it was re named Krieghof, I suppose at some stage the Simpsons re started there business in the DDR from which mine is made, I hope my historical facts are correct, ha

Thanks for that very interesting nice bit of background history.

holloway - I trust you have read through all the posts.

Conor asks the very same questions of Rewulf and myself, but no-one else. Why is that?

Why does he ask how long it takes to fill in a survey, when he doesn't appear to know himself. He evaded a direct question.

I have as much an interest as any shooter in whether lead is banned. Conor seems to think he has the monopoly on that, despite many pointing out that BASC seem to be trying to usher a ban in.

Are all those who disagree with BASC subject to your comments? If not, why not?

Conor has made a number of comments about Rewulf on this and other threads. Will you condemn those?

I suspect not, but I will give you the benefit of the doubt and wait.

Conor is doing an exceptional job under difficult conditions, not many would have his patience .

Sorry Gordon but you are not being helpful with the personal comments and this keeps happening with you wading into discussions between other PW members. Do you honestly think I have not been through the online survey when I am writing articles in the sporting press and online and sending out emails to members about the consultation. I don't feel like you have any interest in these and other policy issues other than to cause division. Perhaps that's not your intention but it's how it comes across and you might reflect on that.

An accurate assessment from what i've read .

I am not thanks, the EU have two years ago reviewed the use of Lead and have banned it over wetlands in Feb 2023 and nothing else which is what we did many moons ago.  Not a blanket ban in sight.  Why did the UK decide to review Lead use when we were already equal to the EU's revised rules, why would that have stopped trade in Chemicals or was it after dialogue with BASC who have wanted a Lead ban since the days of John Swift.

    Quote :

As of today, the 15th of February 2023, using lead shot ammunition in wetlands is illegal in all 27 EU countries, as well as Iceland, Norway, and Lichtenstein. The law comes into force following a 2-year period given to the EU countries to prepare for the change.14 Feb 2023

I think you over estimate Bascs influence in all of this ,shooting in general needs to wake up to a changing  world and put its house in order or someone else will do it for them …..simple as that.
